One of the biggest drawbacks to the class five motor in my car is the carburetor. I’ve tinkered with Solex 30 and with the help from my buddy, Tom, the motor runs very good, but the idle circuit won’t allow the engine to idle below 1400 r.p.m. Tom says this is because of the radical cam that’s in the engine.

Secondly, at high r.p.m. the motor is starving for fuel so I guess it’s time for a different carb setup. I have a set of Dellorto 40’s but unfortunately the frame structure around the engine doesn’t allow enough room for these carbs. I’ve read a lot of articles, and talked to a lot of different people, about what they think would work the best and everyone seems to have a different solution to my problem. The blower will be a great setup but this means that I will have to build a whole new motor, which is completely out of my budget for now. Well after months of research I’ve decided to listen to Tom. He guaranteed me that he will make a single Webber 44 run great with no hesitation problems, so what more could I want… So out comes the Visa card and let’s spend a little more money.
