I made this video last summer, I think. It's not a very good video. Kinda doubt I'll win any kind of award here... but it sort of 'puts to life' what people in this thread have been trying to explain:

I'm just curious if anyone has heard of someone using a "Halloween" style smoke machine for the smoke source in this test? Would that work instead of burning something in a paint can? They put out pretty low pressure but i'm not sure if its enough to propel through all the lines.

Great video btw thanks for posting it.

I doubt it, those fog machines don't make the drops of fluid small enough to sneak through tiny cracks, smoke particles are much smaller and don't condense out of the air when they encounter something.

Thought I'd share. I picked up an old cheap sandblaster at a yard sale for $3.00. I'm sure HF sells these cheap. Turn down the psi, slip on a rubber hose on the nozzle and make your smoke in the container.

I’ve got pictures and parts in the EuroBus Forum using smudge sticks and kitty litter containers

After seeing a youtube video, I bought some cheapo cigars, then I hooked up a hose to a vacuum port on the intake manifold. I simply lit the cigar, took a big draw into my mouth, and blew it into the hose. It didn't take too many draws to start revealing a couple intake manifold leaks on my mom's Volvo. It did help to have an assistant looking for the smoke.

Gary’s smoke test instructions:

1) drive down to your friendly local dispensary
2) purchase some weed
3) return home and smoke the weed
4) no more problems

This is the best “cheap” DIY smoke machine I’ve seen yet. For me the “best” means something that can be built with readily available components.

Tried Gary’s method but I can’t recall the results.

Obviously a sign of a successful test.
