1980 Vanagon Distributor Drive Gear Spacer

Hi, I have a question about my VW Vanagon 1980 with 2.0L Aircooled Engine (CV). Can I use the "DISTRIBUTOR DRIVE GEAR SPACER" from T1 (part number: 111-105-235A) in a T4 engine? I can't find the T4 spacer in the web.

No, you can not use the Type 1 washer. They are very dimensionally different from a Type 4 washer.

It's not exactly clear, but it looks like the part number is 021 105 235 for the 2.0 shim if that helps your search. I came across this link searching the part number. Porsche 914 probably used the same washer too.

Contact any vendor by phone, most have a shop or some association with a shop that might have bins full of misc. parts.

You could also place a WTB (want to buy) add in the Samba classifieds.
