|

Hi everyone,
I am working on a replacement nose for my 72 coupe, and the lower panel of the nose needs to be replaced (the panel with the bump out for the spare tire). The issue that I am running into is figuring out how wide the bracket width should be. The reason that this is difficult is that the replacement nose is from either a 73 or 74, which had the bumper shock absorbers, which my 72 does not have.
I not only need to weld in the replacement panel, I also need to fill the large shock absorber holes with new metal. On my 72 the only openings in that area are vertical slits, for the brackets to slide through.
Can someone with a 72 please measure the exact width and height of the slits?
Thank you,

the ID length should be the same I would think? I quickly measured mine and it seemed to be right at 3'
also I have regular brackets, not tubes. _________________ 1973 karmann ghia - current, not the last VW.

The with is 3'? That seems very wide. Again what I am looking for is the actual height and width of the front bumper bracket slit in the nose. I have filled the large round shock absorber hole, but I need to ensure that the bracket width and height are the correct size.
Can someone measure their car for me? I need to finish this job tonight, and I want to ensure that I am doing it correctly.
Thanks,
