thx for quick answer!
I'd just wrote from my mobile, where the page doesn't read very comfortable. But i'd send it to my desktop for a later, closer view.

Hopefully he will reported his next steps on this project and later on, I will have a closer look here too.

But for now: THANKS!

AND greetings from Germany 😉

Nice Deluxe seat find!

The letter is the manufacturer's tag for the seat

I found a tag in my barndoor seat, too.
The first number could be the date of inspection, in your case 29.3.1952
(29th of March 52)
My number is 02754 (2nd of July 54); my bus was built in July 54

Hi all, New here, brought here by watching the video of the rescue of this machine from the woods. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=621802 It amazes me that people are willing to spend the time and effort in saving these old VW machines. I love the VW campers and vans. My uncle had one and he put a 3.6ltr engine into it, sounded like a VW, but the clue it was something else was the big radiator on the front where the spare wheel should be. Sounded like a VW, but went like the wind.
One day a guy turned up at his door saying he had noticed that the VW camper had sat outside his house for over a year and not moved. He wanted to restore it to the spec it left the factory. A deal was struck and it left on a trailer. Next time he saw it, it turned up at his door in Dundee, fully restored by a group of enthusiasts and looking like it just left the factory. Smile
I didn't know he had stopped using it or I would have made him an offer for it.
However, I am glad it was restored and looking forward to a long and loved life. Smile

I wondered the same thing about mine with all the repros etc out there, if you carefully pull it apart and find the 29 part number and dealer dust it helps. I cleaned up the contacts and put a smear of electrical grease while I was at it.
