Just got a metal filter that's 1/4 inch - I think that's closest to my 5mm line. I am able to force the line onto the flare of the filter but is that safe? Would I be able to cut the flare off? Or should I just run some 1/4 inch hose?

Thanks Darrel! All I needed!
Orderd three Feet of hose(not exactly 3')and had none to spare - the lines are pretty tight now, no slack.

Yup...used those clamps and I went with a glass cleanable filter for mine. You can see when it needs to be cleaned!

Is there a plus side to using those hose clamps, or do they just look better?
And I've heard bad stuff about those glass filters  don't know how much of it is true though!

| Well,......... technically those clamps work better by applying more uniform torque around the hose. But really they are more important on high pressure Fuel injection system. So for a measly 3psi carb line, they are just for looks ! |

If the glass-housing fuel filters are not restrained/held down, they can flap around & potentially hit something nearby & crack/break. I run the metal canister fuel filter in nose of car, underneath the fuel tank, in conjunction with the tank strainer & filter screen in the fuel pump. No fuel filter in the engine bay.

Longer hoses and ziptied to the passenger hard breakline
