That's right up there with the jackasses that entered & are proud to have won the "Best Paint" award with their 3 month old car. |

I would agree that there isn't any "Factory" finish on any new car worthy of "Best Paint Award".
On the other hand a new car that has been customized and prepped, re-painted, and polished,
Could be a car worthy of "Best Paint Award".

$20,000.
Which seems outrageous, until you compare it to a VW bus. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

just popped in to the supermarket and found this citroen big 6 from 1954, note how we've parked in the far corner of the car park away from the thoughtless door denting, trolley scraping, can't walk 50 yards hoi polloi...

I saw a First generation (1974–1981) VW Scirocco in the parking lot at work today.
The scale of today’s Automobiles & Trucks & SUVs made the Scirocco seem tiny in comparison. _________________ Good Luck

Today I went to a car show in Fruitland, Iowa-------yes, there really is such a place. Good sized show. Probably well over 100 cars with the usual mix of 50s Detroit iron, street rods, Muscle Cars, Rat-Rods, etc. The only air-cooled VW was a tired old dune buggy. But then, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a bright red Renault Alpine in pristine condition. The owners were thrilled that I actually knew what it was. They bought the car used when they lived in Austria and brought it here with them.
I have only seen one in real life once before, and that one was a vintage road-race car at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin years ago. |
