Saw these in San Pancho on a recent trip to Mexico. Lots of weird modded old VWs in this town.

Saw a 1958 Fiat 1100 like this one today, original paint, black, and in much worse condition. For sale, asking $1800.

Had rare day off and the wife and I went to the J.A. Cooley museum in north park, San Diego. You would not believe the collection of pre1930 cars, model trains and other things from the 1890 thru 1930. The Smithsonian says he has the best collection of unrestored cars in the world and they all run. You would never know it looking at the building they're housed in and Mr. Cooley is sitting right there to tell you about anything in there.
It costs five bucks a person now, but well worth it.

I saw a 356 in my driveway the other day getting washed for the first time on 4 years....then back to hibernation as it saw it's shadow. |

I usually only see those with bright paint jobs, teeny tiny wheels and lots of hydraulics. _________________ Larry in OB

By the looks of the driver, he's quite possibly the original owner. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Saw a 1931 Helms bakery truck stuck in the middle of nowhere, turns out he was broke down. Spent a few minutes and got him going. Neat when cars are so simple and with no tools I can figure out what's wrong and play hero for a minute. _________________

I hate that I'm set up with photobucket, but I also hate that I haven't shared this crazy truck with anybody yet. Two whole months ago today, I swear I saw one of these:
http://www.trucktrend.com/news/1410-could-mexico-market-ram-700-preview-new-mini-pickup-for-u-s/
Bear in mind, I live in Boise, Idaho- far from any test market mules. This thing was at a light (7:30 AM) in my bedroom community of Meridian and I got a couple real good photos of it. It was also red and clearly marked Dodge Ram and "Adventure" on the rockers. My understanding is there were just a few sent to America. I want one- but prefer the Fiat Strada badging. _________________

^^^ Yep. I have seen a Baja with all of that shit removed and it looked much, much better. I think it was slightly lifted, too. _________________ nothing |
