Does anyone know the whereabouts of Raul Covarrubias (vw76westy)? I've been trying to get in touch with him for weeks, but no response to emails or PMs.
Is he OK? Is he on a round-the-world trip or something? _________________ John

Doesn't look like he has been online since March 9th.
BTW whence->from where, as in where is the origin of. Not really the question you are asking, or is it? |

I last saw him in early March. He met me at my mom's house and
borrowed an Air Flow Meter. He wanted to use it to check against the
one on his automatic bus. It had been running hot. But he did mention
that he was very busy at work, working 12 hour days. He just may be
too busy right now to log on. But I will call him and check up on him.
He looked just like his picture, only looking tired

I eventually caught up with Raul a or two month ago. He had fallen behind on shipping some stuff, but eventually came through. He said he has been extremely busy with his trade show business. He seemed to be fine, just busy as heck. _________________ John

Good to hear. He was a tremendous help when I was sourcing the parts to return my bus to FI last winter. _________________ '78 Westy - 2.0 FI |

I expected him to show up the recent VW events in Southern California, but I didn't see him this year. _________________ Eric

Good to hear. I met Raul some years back at the VW Classic. He knew my bus from seeing it on the samba, so came looking for me that day. He had found a set of the rare brown seat stand walkthru pads and wanted to know if I was interested as those are what are in my 1968 Clipper L. I passed that day, but called him a few days later, arranged to meet him at his house. We did the transaction, then talked buses for over an hour in his garage. Over the years, he will still occasionally hit me up whenever he finds any more stuff that may be from the early bay Clippers. Awesome guy. Glad to hear he is doing OK. _________________ 1968 Deluxe "Clipper L" Type 2

I just realized that's my bus in the background of this pic. I wonder if that was the year that I met him. _________________ 1968 Deluxe "Clipper L" Type 2

Good to hear from here in the UK as well. Raul has been a great help to me for obscure parts over the years, a great guy to deal with. _________________ 1965 Type 1 Deluxe (1200cc)

Hope he is ok, he helped me out greatly with a lot of sheet metal parts for my '78 Westy and we were in the middle of working a deal for more parts and he just stopped emailing me back, texting back or returning calls. _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"

Didn't want to derail the current decel valve thread...but do want to say it's good to see Raul posting on the forum!
Raul, I am happily running my engine the way it supposed to be...fuel injected! You were a huge help in getting me there. You are an asset to this community, thank you. _________________ '78 Westy - 2.0 FI |
