|
|
I have my windshield and dash out for some maintenance and just noticed a wire disconnected. I can't see an obvious spade for this to connect to...any ideas where it should hook up?
It's blue/green. The other blue wire in the same bundle goes to the plastic connector block right below the bracket.
Thank you _________________ '78 Westy - 2.0 FI |

According to the wiring diagram, that should be the wire that goes from the "EGR elapsed mileage switch" to the EGR warning light on the dash. The switch is located in a plastic box in line with the speedometer cable behind the front left kick panel.
It is just a switch which turns on the EGR light every xx,xxx miles as a reminder to have the EGR system checked out. There is a reset button on the switch that you can press to turn the light off and reset the mileage count. I think most people didn't bother and just pulled the wire from the bulb when the light came on (as your PO apparently did). |

Sometimes that EGR switch has been removed and the speedometer cable replaced with a one piece longer cable. _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

True, although his looks like it still has the factory seal on the nut connecting the cable to the speedometer. |
