That's so cool Volkswagnut. I didn't realize that was your car. Thanks for sharing the history!

I recognize that 64 from some of the early BugOuts in Manassa and Farmington shows. Is it still around?

Yeah I drove the crap out of it.. and sold it around 92.

The kid I sold it to in 92 backed into a poll and destroyed the decklid a month after he bought it... I took the pictures I had and made a trip to have an exact copy made by the same guy..(Jack) so thats the one I have today.. Louvers ...either love em or hate em'

It changed hands a few times then lost track of it.. until.. I got wind of a Vw junkyard being sold out.. and came across this..

Um.. bow and or turn your heads.. ....maybe its around as a modern toaster or something.. Laughing

ADVICE... Never...NEVER buy something back over sentiMENTAL reasons.
You will loose.....
Happened to me twice now.. Im Done With That..

For those of you watching to "see" if I get my first car back. A deal may be close, for all of them, or maybe just the one. Keep your fingers crossed. Time and final sale amount are still the issues right now.

At least I may be the final owner to put my ole 64 out of its misery... No way Im rebuilding it.

Well that deal ^^^ didnt fly...

New Update... All 11 Vw's were sold.. The owner I was trying buy my ole' 64 from decided he wouldnt sell me just the 1.... and we couldnt agree on a final price for 11 VW's with NO titles..., (mostly 71 and 72 Super Beetles, a couple of Beetles, 2 Buses and a clapped out 64).

A few months go by and I figured it was a dead deal...
Crying or Very sad
A friend of mine told me he knew a guy who just bought 11 VW's... Hmmmm. I called the latest "guy" and found out it was the 11 I looked at. He said he already crushed some.... Shocked
So I asked... Pray Lucklily my ole' 64 wasnt crushed just yet...but its on the list..
The deal has been made and the remnants will be headin' home shortly.

I'll be sure to update

UPDATE

Its home... Paid too much and got very little, as rebuys for me go. Ill pull the doors and cut the quarters for wall hangers.

Strip it clean, and scrap it.

Sad to see it from this \/ to that /\ ! Exclamation Crying or Very sad .

The final chapter....

Long Steel 440 pounds... $44 at the scrap yard.
I kept the chassis, and anything else I could salvage,

Destroyed by the hands of it's creator.
A once great car... gone forever... Goodbye ole friend...

A moment of silence please......

I had louvers in my Ghia in the early 80's. Made some cool aluminum panels to fit everywhere. My first experience with dimple holes for Dzus fastners. Louvers came from a C-10 Tailgate insert. Ended up selling it at Farmington in 1983 for $2000.00, new engine too.

If anybody knows who made these, please tell me. I am curious.
