Is this even possible or would the taper of the races in the discs prevent one from making this stupid mistake? _________________ 1984 Vanagon GL

Anything can be installed backwards if forced hard enough
Not likely with bearings |

I saw it once in a mk3 rear drum. Don't know how they did it, but they did and it is possible to get it wrong. Only a tiny bit of common sense is required to get it right. _________________ 1986 Canadian Syncro Westy TDI - 1989 Syncro Single Cab - 2001 Audi S4 - 1981 VW Caddy ABA - 1980 VW Caddy EV - 1973 VW T-181 |

Almost totally impossible, unless you had a set of real dark welding glasses on when you did the install. _________________ T.K. |

Actually, it is quite easy to put a RACE in backwards. In fact, even tempting as backwards you have a nice wide edge on the race to hammer into the hub. What you'd then do with a bearing would be another matter, but if someone had enough threads on their spindle, even this is possible. I'd be fascinated how long something like that would last. I'm thinking coffee shop and back. _________________ 1987 2WD Wolfsburg Vanagon Weekender "Mango", two fully locked 80 Series LandCruisers. 2017 Subaru Outback boxer. 1990 Audi 90 Quattro 20V with rear locking differential, 1990 burgundy parts Vanagon. 1984 Porsche 944, 1988 Toyota Supra 5 speed targa, 2002 BMW 325iX, 1982 Toyota Sunrader |
