My 73 Bus has seats that look identical to my type 1 bug seats, the bus has a 3 point type seatbelt that seems to work fine... My last bus same circa (but not sure) had higher back seats with a head rest.
These are pics from behind the seats (sorry) the seats are fine if they are correct, in fact I have some recently redone type 1 seats I can stick in there(these are pretty worn).
I can get some front view pics going but I think you guys get what I am asking. _________________ 73 Camper Tin Top/Type 4 1.8 engine, Single progressive EMPI carb, electronic ignition SVDA W/ Vacuum.
Really appreciate what Everett has done here. Almost like he hand picked some of you. I am very thankful for all the help I get here. |

No, not really sure what you are asking. As you have said, your bus has bug seats in it. _________________ 1962 Karmann Ghia

Very helpful! Mine have the knob on the bottom but appear to have been covered at some point. I like the headrest option _________________ 73 Camper Tin Top/Type 4 1.8 engine, Single progressive EMPI carb, electronic ignition SVDA W/ Vacuum.

Your seats are bus seats, from what I can see of the photo. I had a '73 bus that had factory headrests. I believe '73 was the first year for them. I think the correct seat would have the plugged holes on top of the seat back, unless it was a midyear change. What is the production date on the door sticker? |

Looks like 08/72 but the way it is printed in a dot matrix it could be 03/71 _________________ 73 Camper Tin Top/Type 4 1.8 engine, Single progressive EMPI carb, electronic ignition SVDA W/ Vacuum.

08/72 sounds right. An early '73. |

I have the same seats in my 5/73 Campmobile. No holes for the headrests. _________________ 1973 Campmobile Automatic. |

Head Restraints were an option on '73s. Mine was an early '73 manufactured in late '72.

Yes, 1973 was the first year for head rests. I owned Number 9 (VIN 2332000009) and it had head rests.
I will be at VWoG, at the swap meet. If you like, I could bring a pair of 1974 Westy seats that are serviceable but could use reupholstering. (Fortunately, Sewfine is right in town there.) I also have headrests for the '74 seats (which are just like '73 seats). PM me if you want me to bring these to the show. _________________ John
