76 type 2, stock type 4 motor with compufire. on my recent road trip about 100 miles into it the motor started to occasionally miss. it did it most going downhill so i thought it was a vacuum leak. i found a few frayed ends of lines, recut them and also sealed the vac booster hose with silicon at the joints. it ran better but still missed. i thought the petromix might be going bad so i replaced that as i have had one go bad and it had similiar symptoms. ran a little better. also replaced head temp sensor. runs a little better but still misses. i am at an end for ideas. it seems worse after getting of the highway and into city traffic, it does not do it cold only when warmed up, once up to 3000 rpm is usually does not miss anymore unless a quick miss when giving it gas quickly. if it does miss badly it is ussually accelerating from a stop when it acts like a 009 and pict 30 combo. no power then kicks you in the ass and it bucks for a while then smooths out. last i can think of is an injector or two that have got a bad spray pattern? any ideas or help really appreciated. i drove 1000 miles on the trip.

I assume you checked plugs to see if the gaps and color are good. Not blaming them, just good to get out of the way.

Have you checked the distributor with a timing light to see if it's advancing properly?

have not checked the plugs yet. didnt want to take them out of a hot engine. i assumed the distributor is advancing ok, but have not checked it with a light. i just figured the gas milage was ok so i didnt bother. got 18-20 for the trip at 5000 ft average elevation and cool outside temps.

You said it was ok on the highway. Not much opportunity for the distributor to adjust under those conditions...
