Seems like they are either loved or hated. I have one myself, but would have preferred orange or sage green.
Post your pics and tell me your thoughts! |

I dont think they are hated. Just the plain one of the bunch. Even the white ones got the blue plaid that popped, but the Mexicos, plain all around.
I like the Marigold for sure. Stands out. But then again Im a loud, big mouth kinda person.

Loved my 79 while i had it. I wish I had it back! Plus of all the plaid (Brady Bunch) interiors the one used on the mexico beige campers to me was the easiest on the eyes.

I don't hate it, but it's definitely my least favorite Westy color.
Add some stripes and it helps.

I was considering changing the color, but I'm leaning towards keeping the M-plate accurate, and so I'm leaning towards keeping the MB and adding a 2 tone brown/orange/brown stripe.
Sort of along this theme.
I'll probably go down that route instead, strip it down and respray it s that it is showroom condition. I figure tat no matter what color it is, with a near show quality paint job, it will always be eye catching. _________________ 1979 Deluxe Westy in Mexico Beige |

I love the Mexico Beige, however the Brilliant Orange helps

Mexico Beige & Brilliant Orange-
One of the best color combos of the '70s!
Like the MB & whatever they called that "Zenith-like Blue" too. |

That is the best of both worlds, understated MB and Orange.
I would have preferred to have a green Westy, but this MB came along at a great deal.... The stripes do help break up the beige.
My 1970 Beetle was Savannah Beige. So, at one time the fleet was all Beige.
Out here in the desert the beige blends right in. Sure would like to have something green as everything out here is brownish. |

Thanks for the replies, maybe I'll do a two-tone MB/BO
The paint now is good, just sun baked, and I know it can be buffed out but there are other spots that need attention, and I plan on doing a full window removal respray. _________________ 1979 Deluxe Westy in Mexico Beige |

well then that is fantastic, growing up, painting cars with my dad, we never left the jambs a different color, but if that's the factory way, then this is a good way for me to add my orange without completely detracting from the factory paintjob. _________________ 1979 Deluxe Westy in Mexico Beige |

FWIW, I believe '79 Westies didn't come two-toned but that's cool if you don't mind deviating from what was original, and potentially reducing its' value.

I am very partial to the beige. I never liked the sage green, and eventually warmed up to Marinogelb (orange) but still appreciate that mainly for its inherent safety aspects.
I like beige, white, and the earth tone browns that were introduced (on Transporters) in the very late '70s, like Agate Brown. I remember growing up in the '70s and thinking even then that the earth tone browns were a relief following the eye assault of the gaudy colors of the early and mid-'70s. That said, they are now cute in retrospect, and I am going to enjoy the bright awesomeness of the colors of my recently-acquired Wild Westerner. Talk about colors In Your Face!

I always liked that color. Almost better then my sage green bus. I really enjoyed it when westy78 used to frequent this forum and post pics. No idea if he is still around though.
Here is one of my favorites from him
