My 72 bus has a rotten tank and sender. the sender bolts on and is a sleeve type float.
JBugs is having a sale on the 73+ tank. The only difference I can see is that the sending unit twists on. Thus it must use the extended arm type sending unit, correct?
So what other differences am I missing?
electrical connection on my 72 had a spade connection to the sender and a ground wire under a mounting bolt then the wire was screwed to the engine compartment.
How does the arm type sender get wired?
Anything else? Since I need a tank and a sender, should I pull the trigger on both?
Here is a 73 tank
my tank:

you say rotten - meaning perforated thru, or just dirty and rusty on the inside? From what I have read here in the bay forum, many of the newer senders aren't the most reliable. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

Yep.... happy easter holy. A rinse with large nuts and bolts knocked lots of rust off and holes appeared. Lots of holes.
I see the difference now.... 72 has a large vent pipe infront of the sender. the 73 does not. _________________ My Toys: '75 Porsche 914, '92 Ski Nautique and now a 1972 VW Transporter Deluxe (punch list fixing) |
