|
|
Bought a '77 standard bug yesterday. It was a stored inside for15 or so years. It was a 16 yo kids project car. He got as far as removing fenders and stuff like it was gonna be painted No cutting has been done I have all the body parts. He lost interest many years ago and there it sat. I'm going to keep it as a Beetle but it came with a body kit made by Fiber Jet Industries. This kit is an '80's throwback. Mulholland style front end and a Baja rear end with a whale tail and exposed engine. Headlight and taillight areas are square. Any body have links or photos of an assembled kit like this? _________________ burning down the house

Bill, I'll check tonight, but it sounds familiar and I think I should be able to turn up a photo or two. I think I have some old catalog info from them.

Bob, Busters is closed right now as we freshen it up for another year. Reopen on March 4.
73sports, Similar except the front hood is squared off and the apron is changed out. There is no side molding either, just the familiar shape running boards made of fiberglass. Here it is, I don't have the roof scoop.

That was under 'Off Road'? It's so ugly, if it were closer to me I'd just have to have it. |

I remember seeing one of those running around here for a while, I could never figure out what the idea was except to be different, that's usually good enough for me. I think a kit like that was the basis for the infamous "Snorkelstang" bug, you can find that one featured often on the Abortions forum which is also a fun diversion if you haven't looked it over. For some reason this kit reminds me of a mullet haircut. Not trying to rip on the kit or the haircut, just that neither appeal to me personally. _________________ Gary

Thats why I wanna unload it. There's gotta be someone out there jonesing for that Mulholland/Baja look. I don't have the roof scoop or the front air dam. Who would put an air dam on what is basically a Baja kit? _________________ burning down the house

As I remember it was never supposed to be a Baja look, It was supposed to be a road racing look. That's why it has the air dam and the mini whale tail spoiler. The lights on the roof are a bit of a mystery.
I can only imagine how bad the fuel mileage has to be with that scoop on the roof. _________________ Jerry...

The front of that baja kit is interesting. The back looks pretty mormal except for the tail lights. _________________
