After searching for a square back for a while for my 15 year old son, we brought this one home last night. She runs pretty good and body is decent. There is a little front facia damage but no crinkles on the inside and a little crinkle above the motor hatch in the drivers rear. The left rear fender looks like it was replaced from that hit in the left rear. Rust level seems to be in check with no holes in the pans and fenders.

I know very little about these cars. I grew up on muscle cars. My son is in love with the squareback and wanted it over any other car.

Bought a bentley manual and the game plan is to attack the interior problems first since the car is running. Need to find an ignition switch or pony up for the isp west one. once we get the interior sorted out we will attack the rubber or lack of it around the doors/windows. Then we'll move to the making sure the drive train, suspension, and brakes are all up to snuff before his 16th birthday next April. Wish me luck. We'll see if we can pull this off.

Ordered the Bentley Manual from Amazon for $140. I then found it for $80 at CIP1 so I ordered and returned the Amazon one.

I also found a a steering column on here from a 66 square back with ignition, key, and wheel for $200 shipped. I am hoping the ignition works once I transfer it to the squareback and sell the rest of the column.

I also ordered a air intake bellow kit. We will start tearing into the dash once I have the manual and the ignition.

My son has been cleaning the paint inside and out with Mequiars spray detailer. He is now starting the clay bar application.

I think this one was pretty recent. I noticed some accident damage in the rear end. You can see some wrinkles in the corners by the engine lid; where they always buckle.

That is a sweet first car! Your son scored on that one. Congrats on becoming an air head like the rest of us.

Excellent choice on this one, to buy a SB which is solid, runs, and is very presentable. Please make certain that one of the first parts you buy and install is a set of 3-point retractable safety belts. Another useful part would be a tachometer. Get one for a 4-cyl. engine. It can be mounted in a few places without hacking the dash. This will get you and your son used to the sound of the engine and better estimate the shift points. Finally a high mounted third brake light set up at the top inside of the rear window.

Probably 2 out of 3. Definitely putting in 3 point belts. Going to put the ISP West Tach in place of the clock.
