Who calls them and asks what they have left in their attic?
Perhaps some examples from first pressings? Sidewalls, roofs, etc?

Are we looking at NOS/prototype rear quarters for a 39?

On the facebook page of the PROTOTYP - DAS AUTOMUSEUM IN
HAMBURG they mention that there were only 14 VW39 prototypes build:

But on page 158 in Chris Barbers book "Birth of the beetle" is mentioned that the initial order of the 30 VW38 cars was increased to 44 ,in other words plus 14 cars and the next paragraph continues with the information that there was a "further order for another 50 Volkswagens which will be called VW39 signifying the production year".

I wonder if the extended order of the 14 VW38 cars are considered VW39s and if indeed 50 VW39s were build.

Not only is the Prototype museum in Hamburg but we went to a place that only sells NOS VW parts. Dieter the owner had some early car parts. He had a 1952 dealer cut away chassis
