Down to my last spring that allows the front door to lock/unlock using a key. The round spring shown in the upper left, that lives below the disc/post - what is it called, where can it be found, who sells them??

Can’t help you out with the spring, but you should clean the hell out of that mechanism if you’re able to keep using it. Carb cleaner and a toothbrush, lube it up and that thing will be working like a hot knife through butter. _________________ - 1977 CEI Sunroof Bus 2.0L F.I. Hydraulic Lifters

That's a great question. If it has a part number I'd like to know.
Otherwise, maybe it can be a homemade item? _________________ When you cross an Irishman, they never forget. I mean, never. |

Hello,
This is my first post on this forum. Hoping someone can help with my 72' front door latches. They are weak, and you have to turn the key really hard to get them to unlock. They're getting to the point where they sometimes won't unlock at all, and I have to crawl in the side door.
I saw an article a few years ago about how to rebuild the latch mechanism with a new spring, etc but can't find it now. Any advice or reference to info like this would be awesome. Thanks!

Decent write-up here:

If you are into fabricating, I had to do a hack repair to get my driver's door to synchronize its close/lock/open duties as well . . .

buy a used latch - they are so common that I had some new ones I threw away cause no one wanted them. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin

He's like $600 a consult. You will get a full day though. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |
