Stupid question probably, or one that could just be dealt with by common sense(which I apparently have none of regarding this)…..but how is the joint between the side seal and the flat seal(the one over the top on the lifting top) supposed to look? I have it like this at the moment, but before doing the other side I need some input from people more in the know. From what I gather from the very poor directions sheet from WCM they want me to cut the "pinch welt" 1" back from the end. Then the rubber "o" seal at the back will tuck " under the extrusion you previously installed so that you will have a good seal and appearance". Clear as mud in my eyes because I can only see the round seal binding up as one closes the roof. Any hints to elaborate how this joint is accomplished? Pics would be great too!!

Here is what I have now to get some glue surface. It is not yet glued. Pardon the blurry pic…

Many thanks for your input!! I need to finish this Westy d'oh!

Well so much for getting any info. To tie off this thread in case anyone else happens to be in need….Turns out by fluke I had a Bus Depot one on hand and used that like I have seen here when doing a search. I highly recommend the BD one!! No glue and matching profiles. Easy-peasy Very Happy

I feel your pain. I also found zip info on the seal joint and just went off the cuff. Not exactly sure how it's supposed to fit. It seems though that the roof sections don't line up perfectly so having a joint that seals well and looks proper may not be an option. So if you line up the two joints on the long section of the roof, they don't then line up with the luggage section. You end up with some weird looking joints. Wink

The sad deal with this issue is it's uncharted territory, the OG seal had a sweet 45 degree welded seam, reproducing it in modern materials with home methods is going to be a challenge regardless of how you choose to join them. The OG seal was much more rubber like on the pop top edge and less like the hardish vinyl on the "as close as it gets off the roll" stuff supplied now.
Props to Ron at BD for at least making an effort to find something close, it's far better than nothing at all, maybe some urethane to glue it together would help, just make sure it has a drain hole at the lowest points.

I didn't use any sealant or glue. If you are 7' tall and 4 feet away it looks like I left it a little long, but when it is up it matches the pop top seal. I will see how it looks when I get the Westy off the jack stands and cut more off if necessary

I am putting this seal on currently, little confusing as there is a difference in this seal top vs bottom.
One side of the seal has more of a bump where it slides on the roof, the other side is more flat.

Which goes up? I am putting the more flat side up, but read somewhere that someone put theirs on upside down and could not fully close the pop-top..
Unfortunately he did not say which way was up.

THanks!

Mine is the Bus Depot seal, on there for about 3 years now. I just went out, and it looks like I installed it flat side down.

I used no sealants or glues. I suppose if you put it on one way and didn't like it you could always just flip it.

wow! thanks for doing that!

SO maybe I am putting it upside down ( of course) , if it works for you, and the top closes fine, will flip it now while the top is off & resting on my workhorses.
Mine is also from Bus Depot.
