I'm thinking about camping out on Friday night. Is there anywhere in NJ (east of Flanders) to camp for the night? I'll be coming from CT so basically anywhere around the NY-NJ border would be good.
What's the earliest we can arrive on Sat? lunchtime?
Thanks.

If you're riding down 206 South, there are a few nice state parks on the way. High-Point, Stokes, Swartswood, and Kittatinny. I may be missing some other parks but those are the ones that come to mind. _________________ 57' Beetle Deluxe

As far as camping Friday night near the NJ/NY boarder, I think you would be coming over the Tappen Zee Bridge? Down 287 south to 80 get's to Flander's from that direction. I don't know of any campgrounds that direction.
If your interested you can park in my yard for the night. It's very rural and I have a bathroom in the garage. I live 20 miles east of Flanders. PM if your interested.
Same goes for the Walmart guys
Saturday we have access to the swim club at noon. _________________ Central Jersey Volkswagen Society - President |

Thanks for the tips. I'm trying to avoid going too far south towrds NYC so I'm going to try to take a 1/2 day off on Friday to give me more flexibility to where I stay. Maybe head more West into NY from CT and try High Point State Park area.
See you at the show.

If you want a real campground vs. state park there is
http://www.njcamping.com/panther/
It's maybe 15 min north of the show.
This one is right up the street
http://flanetpark.com/
Although the Wal-Mart is next to it.
I guess maybe you would be better off at a state park. _________________ Mic

Lee, we've always had a good time camping at Walmart the night before. I am probably going to do the same again this year. You're always welcome to join!
This is of course unless Mastersin Farm becomes a thing.
Is there a bike class this year Casey? Lol _________________ Mike

Only a couple weeks away! I can already taste the icy cold beer at the club house.
Also, I just heard that thingparts.com will be at the show selling parts so if you need anything special brought down I would recommend reaching out to them in advance. _________________ www.cjvws.com

Casey our new CJVWS president, and I visited the show grounds yesterday and discussed several issues with the powers that be at the Swim and Sports Club in Flanders.
I'm happy to report that since last year the Swim and Sports Club has paved the entrance from the street all the way to the pool! No more lumps and bumps to get in! (except for the speed bumps). I know this was a concern for those modified vehicles coming into the show.
We are also taking steps to improve food quality and service for breakfast and lunch and have expanded both the camping area and spectator parking.
Rest assured the Central Jersey Volkswagen Society is working hard to make the 11th Gathering the best yet!

Thank you swim & sport club.
For those with lowered cars - You can bypass the speed bump by cutting through the grass parking/camping area to the left of the drive after you pay & then it puts you back on the drive after the speed bump. I have less than 3" clearance & I make it no problem. _________________ Mic

Kind of a last minute thing, but with the recent passing of Dean Jones, I thought it would be cool to see how may Herbies we could get at the gathering. _________________ I will never lie, but sometimes the truth changes.

That would be a good idea for next year's AACG featured car.

I have no idea how many there are in the practical attendance area. But yeah, doing that might get folks to travel from a bit further. _________________ I will never lie, but sometimes the truth changes.
