For you average joes. If you are following my heater channel thread, you know I recently got one of these. I paid $300 Don't know how long this will last or how often they put these on sale, but I can't imagine you can get into MIG welding much cheaper... http://www.eastwood.com/mig-welder-110vac-135a-output.html _________________ 1971 Ghia coupe. I saw the price on a display ad on Youtube (since I've been to Eastwood's website before and my computer is now "cookied" by them). When I click on the display ad I get the $200 price. But when when I go directly to Eastwood's website and browse to the welder, it is $280.
Maybe the trick is to go directly to their website, wait for you to get cookied, then surf around the web waiting for the display ad to show up. _________________ 1971 Ghia coupe. Assume I know nothing and you'll be pretty darn close to the truth. |

Don't expect to get it anytime soon. There was a fire in their warehouse. Won't be shipping until further notice.
Oh, BTW, enter "samba" at checkout and its 15% off. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

I clicked on it today and it shows $279.99 but the free shipping offer they have doesn't work. It says it doesn't apply to welders. _________________ -Jared

I purchased many things from Eastwood, including a welder. Maybe that's why I'm seeing the sale price ?
I can still see it. _________________ ----------------------

Sale is still on, but you have to find a banner ad, not go directly to their website.
Here's how I got to a banner ad just now. I went to ebay and searched for "welder". These display ads show up on relevant websites/searches. And you definitely have to have visited their website before (maybe even browse in there a bit and put things in the cart)...
When you try to purchase, you'll get the message about their warehouse fire as swhitcomb stated so hopefully you are not in a rush. Good luck! _________________ 1971 Ghia coupe. Assume I know nothing and you'll be pretty darn close to the truth. |

I almost bought a Hobart 140 then I saw this post. Is there much difference between the Hobart and the Eastwood?
They both seem to have a 20% duty cycle and infinite switches and I think the Hobart has a metal wire feeding assembly instead of plastic but performance wise I have no idea. _________________ -Jared

I think most will state that the Hobart is the better welder, being a mini-miller. I believe it has a plastic drive instead of metal like the lincoln or miller. Also, the Hobart has a switch for heat and not infinite variability.
From what I understand, the penetration on the Eastwood is good for sheetmetal and thus it is decent for that.
I have been struggling with a welder decision myself. Lincoln 140C looks solid but a totally different price class.
Hard to argue with 199$ to get into wire-feed welding. |

I was going to buy the Hobart 140 also but once I saw this post I jumped on the Eastwood 135 . With sheet metal being my main repair I can buy a tank , cart , helmet and other supplies with the savings .
and that was quick

Harbor freight has a very nice welding cart that's cheap and nice. Helmets are also fairly good. Always use their coupons. _________________ ----------------------

I'm getting ready to take a class at the local community college for welding, I think the eastwood will be good enough until I get more exp. Later down the road I can buy a bigger one if I need it.
That's fast shipping for having a warehouse fire. Whats in the white box? _________________ -Jared

I must have broken something - I got the $199.99 price, until I placed item in Cart...
Then it jumped to $279.99.
And Amazon's site says it won't fit my 1970 Karmann Ghia.

yeah I was having a hard time deciding between the Hobart 140 and the eastwood until the sale . I don't plan on doing anything more than Ghia / Bug stuff and at 211 to my door i'm able to buy a tank , cart , helmet etc and still be under a new Hobart 140 .
And if it never comes out of the box , it was only 200 bucks lol |
