We have a 95, 5 cyl rialta.
We returned from a 4 hour drive with no stops, and I pulled into our driveway and shut it off. Then I saw I needed to move it back a little, started it again and the idle did a little searching before it settled down. About 4 quick rise and falls of RPMs before it settled down to run as normal.
Then yesterday I took it for about a 25 mile drive and on the way home, it missed or the engine stumbled a bit when I turned the AC on. I was slowing down to approach a red light when I turned on the AC. I turned the air off and it was fine. After the light, when I was back to 40 mph, I turned the air back on and all was fine.
It runs great except for these two momentary issues.
I suppose we could wait until a problem manifests itself, but often we only drive it on trips. I'd like to avoid breaking down by preventative fixing, mid possible! Any hints of what to look at? Thanks |

Sounds like your idle control valve is a little sticky. |

On our Audi, I've had to clean and lube the ICV in order to rectify similar symptoms, so it's conceivable that this could be your solution, as well. Hopefully it's not tucked too far down in that engine compartment. |
