Hmm good idea, ill try to find some plastic plugs that will fit.. What shoudl I do about all the dirt and stuff that is up in there? Pack in more grease and seal it up??

And I don't think dust was ever really VW's concern, so much as rain water, melting snow, etc., wicking its way in between the leaves over time. Since you're in Reno and you're getting into it, def. a good time to address them. For what it's worth, my BJ arms from Franklin's didn't come with them either.

Oh, weird thing, Type 1's don't have 'em...go figure.

I guess I refer to them as a dust cover, although since I have been doing some snow and mud driving thats what I am worried about.. Hmmm

There's usually enough grease wicking between the bars that corrosion isn't an issue, at least on all the rusty buses I've dismantled locally, and they aren't stingy with the salt around here.
