|
|
Hi folks, I am looking for replacement wood-look trims for 1974-1979 Super Beetle plastic dashboards, such as what was used in the later Cabrios.
I require LHD and RHD. I was following a trail on another forum for some very good-looking, better-than-OE-quality reproductions but there has been no response...
Does anyone know of any repro stuff being made?
any and all hints/sources appreciated... |

A couple days ago, I saw in The Samba Classifieds--in, either, General Parts, or Type 1 Bug 1968 and Up, an OEM set that dealers used back in the day. It's genuine VW; still in the original packaging.
Do a search and check it out.

Maybe your local body shop offers hydrographic finishes. That process can make many materials look just like wood or any graphics you want.

Thank you Tim, I have emailed the seller - that will take care of the left-hook Cabrio... but I will keep looking for the two RHD sedans |

Thanks rubabdub, but I would prefer "peel, stick and go!" |

If you still have a VW dealer Down Under, why not email or call. You never know what they may have under the dust in the back room.
Also, a Want To Buy ad in The Samba Classified has never failed me, yet.

Our dealer network was disbanded during the 1980s (VW was not sold here between 81 and 1990) and NOS stuff is rare... I'd prefer to find a fresh/aftermarket producer to ensure continuing supply |

No time or inclination for that on a continuing basis .. Looking for a supplier so I can stick 'n go!
However, I am willing to approach a manufacturer to tool-up |

does anyone do it as a replacement kit, rather than DIY? |
