Datestamp: February 2016 Approximately
Making the Rolling Dollies to move the bus around
I got this great idea from a friend in the Netherlands to move the bus around since it is completely gutted out.
It was a mission to get it on the flatbed because the rear area i had to mock up since i wasnt sure of the bolt holes aligning up since the geometry is not vertical but rather offset.. what a mission so i thought i would do that at the body metal guy but he didn't have a mig welder to spot weld it.. so i ended up just bolting it up when it buckled ... now its good.
Ready to leave for the other shop to secured the read dolly..
This pic is of Daniel The Master welder of many classic vintage VWs in Miami and his assistant Ed .. Daniel also does work for Gerson of KlassicFab (Funky Green Panels Guy)
Finally got it to the VW Aircooled Society Shop to weld the rear dolly into place.
Now it is solid and took it home to the tent that i purchased from Harbor Freight Tools for $159.00 _________________ My '64 Pan Meyers Manx Dune Buggy "Lady in Red"

I'm speechless- That process is worth it's weight in gold-
Don't throw your old fan shroud away as with your desire for AC may need it- looks like a displaced heater air tap has been moved to make room for something.
Decided on a color yet??? _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Some days I just sit.

The old fan shroud was sold with the motor..
I will have dual carbs on the new motor and the AC compressor has its own stand which I already have ... its a custom made Compressor stand.
I know the color that i will use but i dont want to share that yet.. it will be a surprise to all.. nothing wild but it will be beautiful.. it will be a BASF Glasurit Line water based paint just like you would see on Bentleys, Rolls and most high end European sports cars like Lamborghini, Maserati etc _________________ My '64 Pan Meyers Manx Dune Buggy "Lady in Red"

sounds great- also- got a pic of the compressor. My bay has DPD almost factory air and it maybe going in the 66 If I can generate that much power. _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Some days I just sit.

This is a sneak peak of the ac compressor.. its a very low draw compressor.
This is the AC Condenser that i will be using but it will go underneath the chassis above the transmission and will be cooled with two (2) 3200CFM fans off a -_______.. The power draw is not that much.. of course it will have relays cooled down by a water injection system and run a Compufire Alternator with superior amperage.
I have used them before on a 2nd Gen Mazda RX7
and these fans are so powerful that I will not need to mount it under the chassis up front like a lot of people do.. they are superlight and much stronger than any Flex a Lite

Well.. I have not done any serious work on my build since February 2016 so now it is 8 months later and I am now continuing the work on this split window bus.
I was sidetracked with a Meyer's Manx Dune buggy that was supposed to be a Flip to make some money and it has taken a life of its own... another build project.
So here we are with the latest work to Narrowing the beam :
The first 3 pics is of someone else's work
Here are the Plates that were made by Fab Shop 104 :
I also had this very strong all Steel bench grinder stand made by Lawrence Sanborn to replace the cheap HFT Cast Iron bench grinder stand.. they are garbage.
So now i will be able to work with a really good all steel stand.
I made the first cuts using a Sawzall and a cutting wheel... a Plasma cutter would have been the ideal tool to use but i dont have one.. so
Mocking up one of the plates
This is yours truly
I cut the rear of the Bump stop with a Sawzall and then just took a hammer to it for easy removal.
Here is the piece that fell out first:
One side came out horrid.
I used the caliper to measure 2" and i marked it where i will make the first cuts to

Now its time to get back on the bus..
I have been distracted a bit with working on the Meyer's Manx build so now while the body is being worked and painted i can focus back on the bus.
I made my initial measurement which will be 2" Narrowed from each side.. Many people cut the center of the tubes but i decided to flip the script and do it from the outside so the center is unchanged..
Safety comes first so here i am getting protected
I made the first cuts.. i dont have a plasma cutter so i used several cutting wheels, a Sawzall , Hammer and Chisel.. took a long time but i got it done
I removed the Bump Stops by cutting this ring from behind with my Sawzall
I used my caliper to measure off 2"
Now i used a scribe to mark at 3,6,9 and 12 o'clock positions to use as a guide where the masking tape would be so for when i cut the beam tubes.

Here are the plates I bought from Lawrence Sanborn from Fab Shop.
These plates have a little caster on them so it will improve maneuverability and handling.
I previously made a template to see just in case they might be off but Lawrence is a master of his craft
Here i am mocking the plates up and you can see the slight caster on the corresponding holes
Now that i have those in place and i can secure them now its time to get busy and welding.. I am doing the work at a friends shop because i am just learning how to weld.
