|
|
I just got back from an eight day, seven night, 1000 mile road trip last night and when I got back from washing the van this morning I saw this dark gray almost black grease on the ground where I park, and it possibly would have lined up with the driver side front shock.
I don't know for sure if it was already there. I suppose someone could have parked there while I was out of town, or done some other strange thing.
Does the grease look familiar to anyone? Anywhere I should check in particular?
I didn't see anything like it under the van from a quick look

CV grease? Check the boot for a tear where it might be oozing out. _________________ previous:

Can't come from a shock. Shock has light oil inside, not grease. Agreed looks like CV grease, better look at all your boots. They might look OK but when you pull on it it's split open (circular). Maybe your van has been reading my transmission woes and pooped itself….. _________________

Humm, my van is 2wd, so no CV joints in the front. Maybe the neighbors CV joints are going out _________________ Going to where the grass is bluer...

Oil drippings on asphalt looks just like what you have in your hand.
Somebody left an oil spill on the oil / tar based product, and it looks like something to be concerned about.
As long as it's not your van leaking, don't worry about it. _________________ T.K. |

Seriously that is what it looked liked. Never seen so much grease on the asphalt. _________________ Going to where the grass is bluer...

1. save some cardboard boxes to flatten and put under the Van
2. pressure wash or - better - steam/hot water wash the entire parking area, and then the entire underside of the Van, then get under there and do your yearly inspection with a light
you need to get to the bottom of this before something expensive happens
you need to do #2 anyway |

So my neighbor just pointed out there was another glob of grease 15 to 20 feet away. Then another, and another, and another. All the way around the court. The way it hugs the curb line, I'm guessing the garbage truck has problems. _________________ Going to where the grass is bluer...

call the garbage company - they will want to fix their truck (and everyone nearby will want to stop the pollution into the streams and lakes where their kids swim) |

Some mobsters probably dumped a body in a dumpster (sleeping with the fishes) and when collected and compacted you found the ooze in the street. It biodegradable..no worries about pollution in the near-by streams the kids swim in.
