Having put in the new tach to the left of the steering wheel, I decided to redo the instruments.
I replaced the lower three with a two gauge bracket and have put the oil temp in the place of the small tachometer.
I initially thought to put the extra two gauges on the left, but the heater knob has a large unit behind it, so decided to go below.
I think it will work well.
Just have to reconnect the wires, hopefully the labels on duct tape will work!

A good friend told me when we were racing auto cross in Germany that all those gauges were great for running into Trees while you were looking at them. My Dad told me that is why he stood behind the pilots during take off and landings in the PBY's in WWII is because they could not watch them and fly at the same time. I love gauge's but really think how many times you look at them. But when bright Red light comes on you go oh $ittt. They do look nice though.

Well, I use the tachometer to know when to change gear, and it is right there,
The CHT is most important if you have some heating problems or valve problems, the oil temp is really good when driving in 100+ degree heat, but with my external cooler I seem to have it under control, even though I am only doing 3000 RPM at 70 MPH.

BTW I did run into a tree off road, but that was not caused by looking at the gauges!

Oil pressure never seems to be a problem with a new engine, but if you run out of oil the red light comes on too!

So I hardly look at the gauges, I have trained myself when to shift, but they make me happy!
