It is an automatic transmission? That is usually why they are towed backwards. They tend to get 'squirrely' towed over 50-55 mph backwards like you were towing in my experience.

It's manual. ...I wanted the weight on the trailer is all.
Hopefully, I get some time to find the problems on Monday ? At the very least take pics of said problems. .. |

The car is a mess..... I had to open the door to ck it, the keys don't work, my foot could go through the floor, and the ft trunk latch cable is gone....lol.
I'm going to go from a few things to fix, to a total year long restore. ..lol. the Wife is going to hate me.

Open the passenger door, and remove the phillips screw for the door handle, and remove the door handle (push it toward the front, and lift out). Then take the handle to a locksmith and have a key made. If you're really anal about it, you'll pull both handles to verify they both have the same key code on them. If they do, great, if not, you're going to want to find a matched set. I'd probably pull the rear hatch lock too, just to be sure, but that's me.
If you haven't already done so, buy a brown Bentley, you're going to need it.
Looks like you're going to learn some new skills (welding and fabrication).
Your wife might hate you, but at least she'll know where to find you (out in the garage).  One year might be close on time, unless you're familiar with working on/with sheetmetal.  Take a look at what Monte is going thru with his 67 Square, or Steve's 67 Fastback, as they've both been digging deep in their cars. Also have a look at the links in my signature. I've delt with very rusty cars in the past.

If the spare tire is not in it you can come up from below to unlatch the hood. You can cut out/replace rusty pan sections etc with grinder,sawzall & a welder with shielding gas while the body is still on the chassis. After two circles around the block oil got real hot. It took me a few days to post cuss I was finishing brake adjustments. .ck..ck...ck....lol.
It needs a lot a work.... I'm just happy my fat azz didn't fall threw the floor...lol

General clean, remove seats..etc. decided to rebuild motor, lift car off frame to do work.
I'm kinda glad it's so roughly..!

It was yellow from factory.... but it's going a nice British racing dark green |

Take off all 4 fenders if you are going to repair/paint it. You might find a little more rust under them. Your '73 has the 1 year only 3 point seat mounts, so the new Gerson pans are somewhat different.
