I've compiled a list of replacement metal panels for my 67 Beetle. Most of the parts I verified to be coming from Zito Pereira in Brazil, through Jbugs, aircooled, and socalautoparts.

My question is, does anyone here have experience with Zito sheetmetal? Good quality?....Fit and finish?

Should I place my orders? Or start all over? Good, or bad....let me hear it!

Full pans, fenders, rear apron, full front clip, lower hinge pillars, front firewall, heater channels, lower door skins, inner wheelhouses front and rear.

This car has just a little rust....and ALOT of ffrikkin' Bondo, crappy repairs.

Considered.....yes. But there is more good with this car than bad. I figure, going to be a long project, might as well make it as good as I can.

It's going to be a daily driver and sometime custom show car, want it to be a solid as possible.

Yeah I can respect that.

As far as your original question, I haven't dealt with that brand. I bought some heater channels for a customers Ghia from Cip1 and they actually fit really well.

Let me know if you have any restoration questions/advice, I'll be happy to help any way I can. Plus, I'm right down the road from you Wink

I used the Zito floorpans in my '75 Baja because they are cheap and I know they will get beaten up some when I go off roading. The Zito pans seem to be a much thinner gauge steel and are much lighter than my WW gray pans that are going into my '59 Beetle.

These are the best available body panels for your car.

Klokkerholm

Fenders
Find used original German ones if possible. This is a one-year-only part in the U.S. I don't know who makes this reproduction, but Rhibo/Maxicar in Italy is ok.

Rear apron
I am not aware of a rear apron made for 1967.

Full front clip
I have never read a good report about the fit of the Brazilian part. Here is the version made by Klokkerholm in Denmark.

The best front apron comes from Auto Craft Engineering in England.

Lower door skins
I'm not sure what you need, but this is a good source for the Estriguaru orange ones.
http://www.paruzzi.com/webstore/?klantauto=kever&group=8&subgroup=31&

Inner wheelhouse, front and rear
What part of the front and rear quarter panels do you need?

Edit: CIP1 offers three versions of Brazilian floor pans: Estriguaru, Arouca (this company distributes orange Estriguaru products), and IGP. I don't think that CIP1's measurements of the metal thickness are correct. I bought a set of IGP pans from them a couple of years ago, and they were 0.8 mm thick.

Green, I greatly appreciate the research and information. I am definitely looking for quality. Won't do me any good to build on weak, cheap panels.

Will, I will definitely keep you in mind, especially being so close. Good chance I'll be bending your ear from time to time.

I do need to clarify what my intentions are with this bug. I know the '67 is a one-off year. But I'm planning out a mix of older styling with some modern elements. The car has pre '65 front fenders, the hood as well I think. Going to try and save them if I can. As stated, German is best. The rears look to be '67. I do want the older teardrop decklid, which necessitates replacing the rear apron, which is trashed.

Going to a bigger motor with a Freeway Flyer, dual carbs, a more modern dash with some classic stock styling......just making it mine. Still planning out other details. Have a long way to go.

I don't know everything about these old bugs, but I have learned over the years that I'll never know everything. But nowadays, it's much easier to meet people with the same passion for a fine ride to learn from, whatever style they love.

Thanks Heinz. The Zito pans are listed as being 20 gauge, thinner than stock for sure. Might be worth it to go with the ones Green listed....at least the pans.

How well did they hold up on the Baja?

Here are your options for a 1965-1966 rear apron. I would avoid the Brazilian ones due to fit issues.

Still building the Baja, but from building the roll cage and stepping in and out during construction the pans are slightly bowed already.

If we can help somebody to restore a Beetle without chopping another one, then we have helped to save two of them. If a good death foam repair panel was available, then there would be little reason to cut up a car.
