Hey all,
I once wrote here about my muffler. The PO of my '55 took a standard two-exhaust muffler, but then welded up one hole. I've figured out that the remaining exhaust hole has the correct diameter, but there is a pea shooter (from a late oval) shoved in it and that seems like it is too restrictive. Is there a source for repop tailpipes for the single exhaust? I'm not concerned about getting something NOS. I just want something that will work.
Follow-up question....what is inside of a early '55 or '54 tailpipe? Are they just a hollow pipe, or are they some kind of "glass pack"? If they are hollow, perhaps I can get one made at a muffler shop.
Lastly: Took the oval out for a ride tonight after it sat too long in the garage waiting for a new battery. It was so nice. So smooth. Let my oldest daughter shift gears for me. She's too young to drive. She thought that was the coolest thing, and said it reminded her of doing a puzzle.
Thanks,
Steve _________________ Have nice 914, want nice Bug |

WW is out of stock and has been for quite some time. Its just a hollow pipe and should be able to be made up fairly easily. You can see a picture of one on the WW website. Its similar to the bus one but longer and does not have the step down to clear the bumper like the bus one has. _________________ Roads Scholar &

Virtanen hand makes them with the support mounts... I see a link to his stuff. Amazing quality and always period correct to spec. Highly recommend all his stuff. _________________ Charmaine
