I have noticed the comments about the angle of the shifter shaft. Initially I left the angle less than original because i did not like how much room had to be clear in the front cabin area to allow it to move freely. I usually have five children, two adults travelling for long distances, which means stuff usually ends up between the two front seats. I will increase the angle of the shifter for all orders leaving from this point on. For anyone who has purchased one, I will send a replacement shaft free of charge if you are not satisfied with the angle. Please email me if you wish to receive one, [email protected] |
Hi Ray,
I'll try to bend it myself under the hydraulic press, if I fail, I'll contact you to get one, this way it saves you some $$

Stock knobs are possible, adapters for 12mm and 14mm threaded knobs and aftermarket .610" knobs too. Angle is still up in the air, thinking just a little short of stock shifter. I want people's input on this for sure! |

Use the quote key in the upper right hand corner of the post you want to quote.
You can snip it, but leave the beginning and end tags. |

Hi Guys!
so today I bent the shifter under the hydraulic press using 2 small jack stands and the round tube jaws of an old vise.
I've put a thick pile of rags on the jack stand and taped the jaws together then coated them with electrical sealing rubber tape.
I had to cut the top part off bc it was slipping off from the hydraulic ram
It's a little less bent than the original bc the shifter is longer and I was doing it conservatively. The shifter got a little nicked by the jaws although I had a thick rubber layer
It is now 210mm from the dash for a 180mm original (but original is shorter, so projecting it would be around 220 to 230mm for the same height as the RSFab shifter) and 360mm from the ignition key hole for a 330mm original.
It's much better, and however I swing my right knee out of the seat with the shifter at neutral, I can't touch it. I'm about 2" away, so it stills allows to move around easily, although I rarely get away from my seat when driving....

Can anyone who has made the change to this shifter give some feedback on how it compares to OEM? |

Have you read any of the previous postings? Confused |
I think this is more of a driveability?
ie ...Is this shifter really an improvement, is it better How?
....not guesses
Real experience over time.
Looks like a great product... I want one, probably easier to source than OEM,
..But, How does it function, compared to stock?..should I give up my old stick, that reallly works great.
I never succummed to the short shift, or shift extension..so compared to a good stock stick
..Is it much better???? when you drive it.
common tell
....please |

Just got mine installed. Very pleased with the results. Easy to install. Took me two leisurely hours to remove the old shifter, install the new one and get it dialed in. Also replaced the shift fork tabs at the same time (thanks T3). Very robust design and solid shifting. Big improvement over stock. Here are a few pics of the finished product:
Two thumbs up! |

I had this extension on my OE shifter. It was great till it vibrated off and broke.
Don't know if it helps...
it is shown with the knob side up. was about a half inch longer, but broke there. nice bc i could swing it to where it felt comfortable to me. _________________ __________
