That rifle first saw use in the early-mid 60's. For a Vietnam era (or Cold War) item, it is perfect. For a WWII rifle it is about 20 years too new.

Here is the history. I don't think the Germans were using that rifle in those years.

The Gewehr 41/43 would be a good choice for ww2.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gewehr_41

For 1970 the g3 works!

The Heckler & Koch G3 assault rifle was the standard rifle used by the Bundeswehr in NATO during that period, so it is correct for the Thing.

If using the mounts on the triangle behind the rear seats, the carry handle of the M-16 would make it a no go. The same goes for optics.

For the period of time that the Typ-181 was in service with the Bundeswehr, the Heckler and Koch G3 rifle would be the one to get if you would like to put one into the vehicle.

A semi-automatic version is being made by PTR Industries, http://www.ptr91.com/. The "Legacy" model with the wood fore grip and wood butt stock would be the preferred version of the rifle.

Presently all of the items for the rifle, to include cleaning kits, magazines, as well as associated field gear and uniforms are available if you want to obtain them.

The long term goal I have for my car it is turn it into either a Bundeswehr company level vehicle, or one used by the Bundesgrenzschutz for border patrol duties.

Well, money permitting . . .

Until then, get 'er running . . .

A BGS vehicle would be cool. Many of the pictures that I have seen of them have extra side windows in the convertible top.

The G3 is the correct one... it appears in the PKW manuals... the military ones for the 181 on the cold war time...
The G3 is still used on the portuguese army, navy and air force.
