Building up a 66 bug. Have a stock 1500 single port for it. At the shop we have a set of kadron dual carbs that are begging to be used, and they have the dual port intake manifolds attached.
We also have a nice reconditioned set of dual port 1600 heads... and also a new set of 87mm jugs.
Should I find a set of single port intakes for the kads and leave the motor be... or go with the new heads and jugs for a dual port 1641? _________________ 1961 Turkis Sedan, 1641cc

Since you are seeking approval from strangers I’d do none of the above. Build a single port 1600 using all stock parts. Upgrade to doghouse shroud and offset cooler. In the long run this will be most reliable and cost effective. |

Final thoughts, anything you build over stock will need more cooling, especially dual carbs. Those carbs will rob air from the fan. Ideally a convertible deck lid would be best. Deck lid stand offs are a cheaper alternative or just leave deck lid off. You can also cut out a section of the lid behind the license plate. |
