Very Happy

I'd love a notch for sure! However, my gal is pretty important to me and she'd kick my ass to the curb if I bought another VW. Laughing

Buy it for her. Twisted Evil

I know the feelings. Acquiring another type 3 when there are other 5 or more vws in the garage enlessly being wrecked, accessorized, and being fixed even if everything is functioning well is a thing that wives would always intervene. Isn't that part of the VW hobby?

My wife just avoids the shop and has stopped asking questions about all the cars sitting around here. She's a keeper. Laughing

I've got 1 of those too. Cool She'll even come out and be a pedal pusher IF needed. But, that's about the limit. Wink

I was being serious Mister. The bench and tools are nicely laid out on clean rags. It looks organized. Very Happy

There's that metal magician who does the metal work on the early split bugs. His shop looks immaculately clean. I love it.

Well his shop seems to be a jump off point for stuff. My notch included at the moment. One of those one step forward, two steps back deals. Laughing

Im probably not going to touch this car till Turkey Day - as its over at my cousins and Ill be off work Wink

Last week I brought the driver seat home to be altered for the HULS Seat Recliners.

The seat material itself is in great shape and took some balls to cut the bottoms off and put recliners on. The base was another story. It had been brush painted with some dark metallic silver paint, plastic bits and all.

I took the seat completely apart and cleaned the knob.

Then I got some Anthracite paint to redo the base after cleaning it a bit.

So,
It's just those 4 big 'wood screws' straight through the seat back tubing?

There are no internal rods or braces that run up through the center of the tubes there?

A bold move for sure..

Ever live with a set of those for a few years?
Seems that after some monkey lovin' they might tend to work loose..?

That's what those are for, right?
When you are overcome by passion when driving down the road..

Yep 4 wood screws. If they work loose and wobble during my lifetime as the caretaker - I would surly put countersink bolts through. But Id actually have to start driving it first Wink Laughing

The ones I restored sold on fast. The other nos ones I have are the later chrome types where the outward facing hinge is chrome. This set is early, all paint type. I for sure dont want this car to be immaculate either. Shelf worn nos parts most likely wont get freshened up.

If I ever get the birth cert and this is a ruby red notch - then probably go down that path and pull the body, paint and do a black roof Twisted Evil Least wise what I want at this moment. Tomorrow is another day. Laughing

Got some vintage ugly seat belts. The ugly green will defiantly pop inside the mostly brown tone interior.

Then I have this badge - St Christopher but this has 1964 on it and Westfalia. What are the odds I get the year of the car and the trailer it will be pulling all under the protection of this Saint Cool
