Scuffed and seam sealed
Tested the tintable raptor liner to camouflage some of the repairs 😂
Now time for the cab and then time for paint 🎨

Bus —> scuffed, sealed, cleaned, degreased
Paintbooth, ventilation, lights —> OK 👍🏻
Now the question is what sections do i mask off (paint) first ?!
Because i want maximum shine and zero overspray 🤣
So i think for the cabin:
- under the dashboard, inside of nose, tool box and spare wheel hole
- roof vent, dashboard
- cabin floor and panel behind seats
Any thoughts, tips ??

I painted the cargo floor first. didn't really care about shine as it would be covered.
Then exterior roof. Taped outside of drip rail. Easy to cover rest of bus and then to keep roof covered for other paint.
Next covered the floor and roof. Taped off about 12" around doors and windows and painted rest of inside in one go. The paint I used covered very nice and I didn't try for complete coverage on roof and inside walls. Think the process was under dash and nose, toolbox, roof vent working down center to dash, A pillars, along cab ceiling, B pillars, Bulkhead, under seat and floor. Then to the rear was just start at bulkhead and work around. I concentrated on getting the best coverage on the parts that would show the most after assembly. It all came out better than expected.

I went through your thread off your bus 👍🏻
Impressive work ! I don’t have the painting skills nor the guts to paint
the exterior of the bus. First the inside .. will see how this works out 😂 |

Amazing job! Your meticulous prep work is really paying off. For one, I can't get over how straight the cargo area is. Nice.
I wouldn't have thought to have broken up the painting in this many steps. For instance, I would think to just shoot the entire cab and bench at once but I can see the advantages to doing smaller areas, for dry spot, overspray, and maybe an airline touching a wet area. I will remember your approach if I ever get to painting a bus. Thanks for posting the progress! _________________ 1977 Sage Green Westy

never seen anyone two tone the rear inner quarters before. Nice work. I have a mango on its way toward a full repaint. I appreciate the details you put up about your process. _________________ 58Euro 23 343208 The Ultimate Zimblewinder Machine.

I made the decision... I’m also gone paint the exterior 😬
not at once, in a couple of sections, les stress 😄
wet sand and buff it... will see how this works out.
needs to be a driver don't wanna be afraid to take it out.
and if i get paint damage later from driving the bus.
i know i can fix it myself 😅
