|
|
Hello I recently bought a 75 bus with a 2000cc engine that was modified with a single Holley progressive carb, and I quickly encountered some issues. Being a newbie to Air cooled VW's(always have been a big fan though) I was unaware of the flaws this system has for the type 4 engines.
I intend to resolve this problem by trying to get the engine back to EFI. My question is are there any major suggestions, tips, and dangers that I should be aware of when trying to go back to EFI(A reliable site for parts would be great too!). I was going to purchase an ECU from Megasquirt, and I have a pretty complete parts list going(or so I think)
I know about the dual carb option but I feel that the EFI will fit my needs much better than the dual carb set up. I'm new to the Samba and Air cooled VW world so please don't be to rough on me haha All the advice is greatly appreciated! |

Welcome!
The Megasquirt can be made to work but really isn't worth the bucks and asspain for a stock application, performance motors are a different story.
There's always a few stock L-jet FI systems available in the classifieds, less money than any dual carbs and plug and play installation with no major tuning required. Just make sure it's close to complete, removed from a running bus is even better. 75/76 uses one style of system and 77/78 uses a slightly different and more simple one, either will work on your engine. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
Please don't PM technical questions, ask your problem in public so everyone can play along. If you think it's too stupid post it here
