good afternoon
I have a vdo temperature and a vdo oil pressure, both are wire to a single vdo oil sensor
Do I need a double pole sender or a VDO Multiple Adapter with 2 single pole sender ??
thank you in advance
God bless |

Not exactly sure what you are asking.
The oil pressure sender which is double pole is for a gauge and a warning lamp. If your not running a light then a single pole, gauge only, sender is fine.
There are multiple types of temp senders for various locations. You can get one that fits in a "tee" adapter or even one that fits in the sump. |

The oil pressure gauge and the oil temp gauge use two different sending units.
A dual pole sending unit that VDO has is for a oil pressure gauge and idiot light in the dash.
You need to install a separate sending unit for the oil temp gauge. There are several types and ones for different temperature readings gauges. _________________ Joseph

Pretty much.... IF you want idiot light (also), run the VDO dual terminal oil pressure sender....Oil pressure port is not best place to get oil temperature, but it will work...

The temp sender in your picture replaces one of the plugs on one of the oil pressure relief galleys on the bottom LH side of your engine case. You'll get good readings if you put one there. |

The pic is of the pressure relief plug style. I use it on mine. The plug holds a spring and plunger in that galley. A "dual relief" case has two of those galleys, the other at the forward bottom corner of the case on the same side as the other one.I believe the rear spring has less tension on it so would be easier to install, but I'm not certain of that. Temp readings are pretty accurate there.
The drain plug sender would be pretty accurate too but I don't like the exposure that a wire to that sender has. Plus, if not done correctly, it looks like crap. |

I have used a drain plug sender. Its easy and works fine. A well secured and protected wire is just fine down there.....unless this is a primarily off road buggy. |

I'd agree, if it's a street car one of those would be a good choice and a little easier to install because of the pressure relief hardware that you have as part of the oil galley plug install. My car is a dual sport so I opted for the pressure galley plug. |

I'm re-doing the wire on vw beetle kit car, pretty much cleaning the spyderweb under the dash, I see these 2 boxes ( see pic sample )
do you know what are these two for ??
and if you have a diagram for these two boxes ?
I'm running separate/independent system
Good bless |

the big issue with the vdo 2355 is... no oil flow... pressure yes... but its a dead end so no flow... imo BAD for oil temp... the drain plug ne would be more reliable.. but not as much as a port oil is passing thru.. _________________ Click to view image |

Box on left with "12 Volt" on it will be dimmer relay for headlight. Black box on right will probably be relay for light switch/emergency flashers...
