How do you remove the steering wheel from a 73 Thing. I was afraid to pull on anything incase it breaks. |

As I recall when I pulled mine off, you have to pull the cover plate off. Pull it straight off. There should be a horn wire attached to it so be carefull not to pull it out too far. The next step is to remove the nut holding the wheel to the shaft. Unfortunately I don't remember what size it is ( 21-25mm). Then the wheel should pull off. The socket you use will need to be pretty thin walled to fit in the space to take it off as I recall. Hope that helps. Also as I recall, the cover has like four round pegs that attach to springs to hold it on. They are plastic so be careful. |

Pull each corner of the large horn button off. The nturn it 90 degrees to remove the horn button.
The nut is 27mm and after you remove it grab the wheel at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock and rock it back and forth. It will pop off. _________________ Glenn
