My AC compressor is blocking access to some grounds I need to trace and replace. It was not connected when I bought the van many years ago and I'm unsure if I unscrew the lines if it'll blast me with refrigerant. I see the Shrader valves, which dont release anything when I pressed them down. Anything I need to know to take it off and reinstall afterward? Hoping one day to upgrade and get AC back.
Thanks.

Put a gauge on them to confirm absence of refrigerant _________________ .ssS! |

Like a tire gauge on the Shrader valve? If it's empty, then I just unbolt remove and replace after I'm done? Is it that simple? |

Yes. But a tire gauge won’t fit the valve. Sounds like you depressed it and nothing came out. So that indicates it’s empty of refrigerant. _________________ ☮️ |

Just leave them there and make new wiring to a better location that is easily accessible.
If you must pull the pump, you can just take the bolts out and leave it connected. That is what shops do when they pull an engine.

There's very little chance that there is any refrigerant in the lines after all these years of it not working.
You can give the shrader valve a little press with a small screw driver to see if there is anything in it but I doubt it. |

Thanks everyone. Pulled it yesterday without issues, no refrigerant in the lines.
I have two ground bolts below the condenser with 7 brown grounds coming out. Really hard to trace where they all go, I imagine these aren't all stock. |

That count sounds about correct for the 2.1 _________________ ☮️ |

It's a 1.9. Looks like I'll need to cut the looms and trace each one. |

Why do you need to trace them? Just wondering? We too have the 1.9, here's our Grounds. There is a Spray Type Anti Corrosion on the eyelets that I added after cleaning them.
Anyway, if the wiring isn't corroded more than a very short distance from the end of the existing ground eyelet on each wire, it will be pretty easy to open up the harness sleeve enough to splice into your grounds for some fresh repaired connections.
