Took the heads off the 2.3 GoWesty and found these gasket bits in the water jacket. Any ideas from where? Thanks

What's the material?

If rubber, possiblly the inner edge of the jacket gaskets?

How old is your engine? Were they leaking?

I got a customer here with a 2 years old 2.3 Go Westy engine leaking from both head gaskets already (water jackets).

They feel like silicone. The motor has about 30k and it wasn’t leaking

any reason you can see for the leak? split rubber? no sealant? bad case edges?

I haven't taken it apart and I prolly won't as I didn't install the engine. It's out of warranty, wasn't overheated...Prolly poorly applied sealant, or non Victor Reinz gasket used? Who knows, but it surely is not ok...
