Anyone know what all the little holes are around the shifter opening? Look like someone drilled them and also trying to figure out why they welded around the opening? I don't see any cracks Thx

Looks like they drilled the factory spot welds to remove/replace the shift bushing bracket, and did a sloppy job of welding it back in......... |

Thanks Joe, do you think it would be alright if I could just plug weld those holes and grind out the crappy welding they did? _________________ 1963 Ragtop Bug |

Yup, that's what you need to do. They did a terrible job replacing the shift rod bushing hanger.. Wow... _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

Welded them up, and grinded the old welds out mostly.
