I've been searching for pics in the gallery, and typing in part #'s, but can't seem to ID these floor mats. Can anyone tell just by looking at them what they are out of? Ghia? vert? beetle? idk.

They look like the matts that were in my old 58 bug, not sure about the part numbers, but that is what they appear to be.
By 1961 (maybe sooner??) the matts changed to one piece front and one piece back (covered tunnel) and the passenger front got the angled foot rest. _________________ Help Prevent VW Engine Fires, see this link.....Engine safety wire information

PS if there are too wide to fit in your bug then maybe ghia, as the ghia pan was about four inches wider than the bug if memory is right (two inches per pan half) _________________ Help Prevent VW Engine Fires, see this link.....Engine safety wire information

A google search turned this up. From the zwitter forum,
PN #'s are quite similar.
My "new" rubber mats (from a ´57 oval) have the numbers
Left side front: 111 863 711 B
Right side front: 111 863 712 A
Left side rear: 111 863 731 B
Right side rear: 111 863 732 B
But does anyone know to which car(s) the mats that were in my Zwitter belongs? The brown ones should be earlier, right? Please note that they not only differ in colour, they have different profiles and edges also.

I agree. According to the 72 parts list on OACDP 111 863 711 D was from 2/72 so 111 863 711 E would be after 72 and thus the tri-pod seats. See the link here:

beautiful! My mind was boggled there for a minute because for some reason i thought all the late model stuff had a full over the tunnel mat. I just walked out & looked at this late "tripod" style pan i have in the yard & they fit right in!
Thanks for the help. |

I am curious about what a tripod seat is? can some one explain or best yet show a photo? |
Here's a pic from the gallery, but no seat. You can see though, it goes in the two tracks, and has one adjustable center mount in front. Kinda hideous i know.
