They look like front bumper trims to me. It's hard to say exactly, but one end looks to be rounded in your photos _________________

I agree.
Here's a Barndoor Deluxe front bumper with trim for reference, one side is pointy and one side is rounded:

Or maybe they're repro? They're definitely different from og ones as can be seen in your comparison photo.
The long corner trims that this thread are about appear to have separate pieces for the ends, and are a completely different shape

trim like this was used on just about any bus (as in omnibus) of the period.

Chatting with Scotty last night over a steak and a beer, and we concluded that a lot of these buses are German delivered. Maybe these long trims were simply a dealer option throughout barndoor production? My August ‘51 has them, was German delivered, and also has an optional “full length instrument panel”. No mention of either on the birth cert so more likely a dealer option bolted in / bolted on at point of sale?

mystery solved:
this trimm is original, but not VW. its was bolted on at Autohaus Raffay, Hamburg back in the days.
I got the information, from the owner. _________________ GermanRestoKommando

If that's the case then great, but there seem to be a lot of buses with this trim on. I would be amazed if they all went through that dealership _________________

Maybe Ben can help us out here. Does he have the birthcertificate of his 51? _________________ GermanRestoKommando
