Unless you've had your head in a hole or are new to the site, you've probably noticed that we've become a tad "sterile".

All Vanagons all the time. If it isn't Vanagon related we as a common group simply can't talk about it within the confines of our forum.

So here it is folks! Your opportunity to talk about "it" ...... Whatever makes you tick, what has made you who you are today, what other vehicles or toys you own that make you smile, how to fix that burst pipe in your garage, why you drive a Vanagon....... whatever.

Just keep it clean, pretend That your young child is sitting listening to you. Also be kind to each other. We are a homogenous group from all over the Globe. Different interests, different customs, different life experiences, different moral codes.
Quite frankly I see life differently than you do!
You of course are wrong, but I will refrain from telling you that!

The basic forum rules still apply on appropriate posting. We aren't going to be deleting your discussion about the DeLorean you just purchased but we will be deleting inappropriate postings.

Keep in mind that there is no order nor there is an index in this thread so for Vanagon related discussions, try to keep it in the Vanagon forums so others can read and learn.

Have fun! Let's see what makes YOU tick as a Vanagon owner!

Dave

Is this a place where I can talk about my daydream of a self driving westy?
If the tech ever actually gets here , I want it installed in my van so I can go to sleep in the back on friday night and wake up Saturday morning at a lake 7 hours away.
My last thread got moved to off topic and died ;__;

Why would you start this thread as a moderator when it's clearly against forum policy? Are you the exception to the rule? There is a general chat forum for just these types of posts. Come on.

Yes, we know, not a rogue post, we talked about it beforehand. Following the lead of other forums with similar threads.

Seems appropriate, community building, we'll see what happens.

You are kind of a Rogue character David.

How'd you determine to have this "coming" out of the closet?

Kinda an odd fellow move.

Just my opinion on this one.

I have an '87 Vanagon.

How can I get rid of the free range chickens in my residential neighborhood?

There was a rooster crowing in my avacado tree and waking me up at 0530. I've sprayed it with a hose in the evening to discourage it from roosting, but it has only moved into the neighbor's yard. I have a 30-30, but I don't think that would be appropriate or appreciated by the neighbors or the police.

I have another '87 Vanagon which had an engine fire. Are there any suggestions as to how I could turn that into Kervokian chicken death cell.

How's that Dave for keeping it Vanagon related? Smile Smile Rolling Eyes

If you can catch the rooster you can then tie it up to owners house, preferably right outside their bedroom window.

ok, altho I KNOW how to get rid of free-range chickens, I will stick to automotive topics:

I have 3 cars and every one of them is a flat engine design - no 2 of them are the same brand...

Ok, I'll play...My brother in NJ wants to give me a 1993 Ford E350 Diesel Ambulance with dual wheels and 145K miles. He wanted to make a camper out of it but lost his mojo for the project. I know it runs strong and has all of the cabinetry is intact. All I would have to do is fly to NJ and drive it back to Colorado, then find my own mojo to camperize it. The body is in good shape and I believe the lights and siren still work. My wife is on board with the whole thing which translates to passenger status only. What do you guys think...Pros/Cons?

Attached photo is not the van in question but is a reasonable representation.

Hi all, drove my 84 Westy to Home Depot to buy Chicken Manure for my garden and compost pile. It was in the 70s today, A nice day for a drive. I listened to a pod cast of the Greatful Dead. We have driven this van for 31 years. Life is Good.
Keeping it between the fence posts.

Pros:
Cheap
Cheap parts
Spacious
Good for boondocking/stealth camping

Cons:
Not a VW
It's a Ford
Will handle like crap
No walk-thru to cab (unless I'm wrong)
Not as maneuverable as Vanagon

Find out which diesel. If it's the 6.0 consider running away (head problems). If it's the 7.3 it is supposed to be a winner, but that one might not have been available that long ago. Also there was a big fire issue with E350 ambulances, but maybe not those with diesel engines. You can research this. http://www.autosafety.org/ford-ambulancevan-fuel-fed-fires

I'd get it, but I don't have much sense.
