I just bought this fibreglass dune buggy. It has a 1967 Beetle pan. I can't find any like this one. If anyone knows what exactly it is and where it was made I would love to know more.
Thanks,
Chris

That was fast! Thanks! You don't happen to know how many they produced or if they put a production number anywhere on it do you?
Thanks |

In late 67-early 68, Larry McIntyre, Richard Oehrli and Duane Stewart, a college student, a fiberglass boat designer and a Corvette body repair specialist, all got together in Bellingham, WA to design and build a better buggy. They formed a company called Design Time Inc. The Wrangler had a one piece body and hood with very rigid fenders(could support a 200# man jumping up and down on them w/o cracking), also with steel reinforced fiberglass bumpers and which used inverted 55 chevy headlight rims. They built three Wranglers and then sold the manufacturing rights to Irwin of Toronto, Ontario.
To gain additional information I would try to contact other owners on the Samba and Dune Buggy Archives. I'd also try doing a Google search to see if you can contact any of the original three builders. Plz let us know if you have any success. |

Assume the Turbo was not one of the 25 features, but was added later.
Engine bay had to be trimmed with enlarged opening... Anyways, seem to be a nice substance - the body at least. _________________ '73 Beach Buggy

I think the word you meant to use may have been quality rather than substance. Yes, it was definitely a nice quality buggy |
