Bill suffered a stroke last week and passed away Friday, Nov. 13.
He's known for his long envolvement with VW parts, performance and organized racing. He, and his company Tayco, joined with BUGPACK (of Claude's Buggies) in 1985 to become the manufacturing end of many BUGPACK parts as head of machining operations. Until retiring from BUGPACK in 2006.
Bill is known as the founding father of the Pro Racing Association (PRA), The West Coast's VW drag racing organization. He remained the leader until leaving in 2005. http://proracingassociation.com/press_releases/bill_taylor_hall_of_fame.pdf
Starting in 2012 Bill has been the Director of Racing with Bugorama Promotions Bugorama Racing Series (BRS). With the final season race in October at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bugorama.
For the last few years Bill has been working developing performance engines in his shop he shares with Howard Washington here in the Phoenix area.

RIP, Bill. It is difficult to gauge ones effectiveness in changing peoples lives unless you are there to see it, thankfully the world has ears! You will be sadly missed. _________________ 73 Camper Tin Top/Type 4 1.8 engine, Single progressive EMPI carb, electronic ignition SVDA W/ Vacuum.
Really appreciate what Everett has done here. Almost like he hand picked some of you. I am very thankful for all the help I get here. |

I think this thread belongs in the Celebrities death section. Since Bill was one of the pioneers of the VW drag racing in the early days more people need to know about his life and passing.
I had the chance to meet Bill a couple of years back and heard some of the stories about the early days of VW drag racing.
There is a picture of his dune buggy that he drag raced on the back of Bill Fisher book "How To Hot Rod Volkswagen Engines". His partner Clark Colman is in the picture.
He will be missed. _________________ Joseph

RIP. Another legend passed. I met Bill in the Los Angeles area. Believe he had a small shop on Manchester. I believe he was good friends with locals at EMS, Bill Duncan and Dick Nuss. Bill was a big part of the growing VW street racer scene in this area. Many V8 owners lost sleep because of Bill's involvement.
