Is the bottom of the wheel wells on a 61 flared or are they straight? I am debating on ordering the the section from the vents down or trying to repair it, if I ever get that far.

my 61 was straight. does not appear like you need the entire side. _________________ regards

Thanks Everett. I thought I could just use a piece of straight sheet metal. Oakman what guage metal did you use for the wheel wells? I need to also figure out the guage metal for frame because I have to repair a section of that too. _________________ Be happy with what you have, you will save allot of money that way....

You should consider buying an inexpensive pair of vernier calipers, that way you can measure what you have and compare it to what you intend to buy. A set at harbor freight is probably $20. |

While we're talking mango here's a few more pics of the new project:
Picked up a nice middle seat for it:
Someone sanded the drip rail and other various spots on the bus then brushed on some sort of a rust inhibitor. The pictures in the ad made it look like the entire roof gutter was rusted all around. The roof is solid, only surface rust. I'll try to make that look better with some blending I think.
I've been after a pressed bumper bus for a long time so I'm pretty stoked to have this Mango. _________________ Brandon |

Sweet looking bus. Your never going to finish the Westy with all these distractions. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

Haha I know, I never really completely finish anything though. Distractions are good sometimes, i'm all about distractions.

It needs all of the usual to get it roadworthy, it does run and stop though! _________________ Brandon |

Trying to put more miles on the Westy before BBB in January. I've only driven it about 130 miles so far. Finally had it out of the neighborhood and onto the highway It cruises nicely at 60, and at idle it's so smooth you can hardly tell it's running.
Here's what's left of my local Route 66 diner that burned to the ground last year in the Blue Cut Fire. I miss this place, I would eat there at least a couple times a month. This is at the top of Cajon Pass on I-15.
Some dirt road driving:
Took the bus out tonight after work and caught the last bit of light:
All in all everything is working as it should. The one problem I've been having is the ignition switch for the steering lock. It seems to be weak, not making a strong connection inside. A few times I've had to wiggle the terminals slightly while turning the key to get it to start. The bus had a Ford starter relay hooked up when I got it, I think I need to re-install that or get a new one from WW to take the load off that circuit. _________________ Brandon |

I bought a Wolfsburg West hard start relay. Easy to install and instantly cured my starting issue. It starts like a 12v bus now.
