Here are some pics from the OCTO meet on Saturday, February 6th 2021. Great time as always, and great weather too. Nice to see friends I hadn't seen in a while. It was fun to be able to line up with other Westfalias, including Johnny's sweet Pearl White/ Velvet Green So-42 and Daniel's 64' SO-35. Thanks fellas. Good times!

Thanks Rich, they drive really nice too. Very similar feel to the BFG's on the 15's that were on there. I ended up putting those BFG's on my Mango instead of the bias plies.

Yes. He keeps debating replacing the ripped OG curtains and Poptop canvas and I told him he’s crazy. I want that bus. It looks like he just pulled it out of someone’s yard after sitting for the past 40+ years.

Thanks for the pics Johnny, it was a great event. I didn't want it to end. So good to finally see everyone again. I'm digging the rack cover too, plus, it keeps the spare out of the sun. Looking forward to the next time!

If that jack and bag are the ones from the ad I think they are, they were almost mine. I bought them from that Samba ad, along with an original tool kit and roll, but unfortunately they were lost/stolen during shipping and never found. According to USPS tracking, the package made it to Sacramento and departed there, then never pinged again.

My best guess as to what happened. The worst part is, the package thieves probably ripped it open hoping for new electronics or something they could pawn, didn't have a clue what an OG VW bus jack and tools looked like, and threw it next to the tracks or road and went back to ransacking packages. Bummer

Thanks for the pics, what a great time it was!! I was glad to be able to get away for a couple nights, it was much needed. Always good being your camping neighbor too! I think we were parked in almost the exact spot(s) as last year.

Looking forward to the next campout!

It has been a hot, dry summer out here on the West Coast this year, and I haven't been out in the Westy since Spring Picnic back in May. I was invited to join some friends high up in the San Gabriel Mountains at a nice small get together for the last weekend of August.

We set out Friday morning, climbing high into the mountains on Hwy 2, also known as the Angeles Crest Highway. No need for freeways to get here from home in the desert, only two lane blacktop.

Lots of fun hanging out with this crew of bus people. I'm sure I can speak for everybody and say that a good time was had by all! Made new friends and hung out with other long time friends. A very relaxed atmosphere all weekend. This is what it's all about. Stoked!

Awesome pics Brandon!

I concur. It was an amazing weekend with some great people. I like the pic of Chipstar rocking the Fuel Can Friday Thrifty's can.

Thanks! Great to camp with you again my friend!
I realized I needed to make a point of walking around for a bit and get some pics of people and their buses. Sometimes the weekend flies by and I totally forget.

With all of these campouts, the only thing I don't like is that it's over too quickly!
